lava lamp stalled, what gives?

The lava separated into two huge balls. One stagnating at the top and the bigger one stagnating right in the middle and nothing happens now.

What's in between the balls? Is someone standing behind it?

shake... turn off... let settle.
turn on tomorrow.

/problem solved.

Good way to ruin it.

I've done this to my laval lamp several times when it stopped circulating. The stuff settles as it cools and next time you turn it on it will begin circulating normally.

Manufacturer tells you NOT to do it, because it will make the water permanently cloudy. I'm not going to do it. I don't want to waste the $20 I just spent.

Just turn it off and turn it back on again once it cools off. Happened all the time with mine. sometimes it just took a couple hours, sometimes it just took a couple days... When I had it turned on for long spans of time and turned it off, the bulb would be dead every time.

It's trying to tell you the 60s are over 😉

Actually, rain lamps - Text were way cooler. 😎
Nude, oily woman, and a big bush. Hot. Totally NSFW!!!!

OP: drop some more acid. The wax in the lava lamp will start moving again.

Just when I thought ATOT wasn't capable of tackling life's greatest problems, I read this thread.

OP, I'm praying for you and your lamp.

I know. Hell we can figure out anything that plugs into the wall and\or has an IP address but we finally meet our match when we face the dredded stalled lava lamp.

My suggestion: My could never get hot enough, might be room temperature I dont know. So instead of shaking it I just flipped it upside down for a second to let the ball raise up to the lamp. Your goal is to get it close enough to the hot light so it melts. Afterwards flip it back over carefully and get it goin again.

It will fog up on you. I dropped on on the carpet one time and that was enough to make the water a little hazy, but that's only after its been on for a while and the wax is all metled. If its solid there is nothing to make the water cloudy.

I've found that if I use the appliance bulbs I get the same result. I switched to a bulb that has a metal coating on the base side of the glass and reduced it to a 25W. Perfect lava motion.

I'm using the bulb that came with it. Where do you get a funny bulb like that and what is it sold as?

The bulb has a standard size socket as a regular 40W bulb, but the glass bulb is smaller.
