Update: 3/3/04, 37 showing in stock at e-Cost with 64 hours left

UPDATE 3/14/00: 3 Days? This deal seems to be self-renewing as the price has dropped to $42 and showing 80+ in stock.

And if you're interested in the USR 100mbps Turbo Router, USR has a new rebate for $20 off the router Turbo 100 Router pdf e-Cost also sells the 8054 router for $79.99, so after mir it's $59.99 plus tax.

While checking some sites to see if the USR rebates for the Turbo G routers and cards had been extended, I came across this at PC Mall:

This is the current price at PCMall as of 3/1/04 6:19:26 PMPCMall Page for USR5410 "Exclusive 100 Mbps Accelerator Technology and Low Battery Power Consumption! All for a low price of $44.99. All prices subject to change."

Not sure about s&h charges at PCMall. BUT

At first I thought this might just be a pricing error, since other vendors selling USR stuff still have it at just under $70 before any rebate. So I checked e-Cost, and...

even better deal at e-Cost:

e-Cost Special Offer for next 72 Hours, 35 units remained is stock "Hurry, time is running out on this Deal! When the clock hits zero, the price goes back" That's $42.00 with free S&H (on orders over $25 - see top of their webpage). So that's $22 plus postage after $20 mir and likely no tax if you live outside California

Note: e-cost is a part of PCMall which has a retail store in the LA area of SoCal. Also note that because the two websites share some common elements, you may have to refresh your browser or open a new browser to get to the e-Cost site if you've already viewed the PC Mall site.

According to the latest CNet reviews, with the exception of the Netgear G++ pc-card, this card blows every other mfg off for range and speed. And is even faster than the Netgear G++ card with mixed wireless networks.

Less than 3 Days on this deal folks!!!! But maybe longer at PC Mall

I wish I had gotten in on this myself but I ordered at beginning of February to get the rebate deal on the card and the Turbo Router through CompUSA. I'd have them PM to this offer but they only price guarantee for 15-days after purchase and you all know the sucky return policy at CUSA:(

PC Mall's resellersratings is pretty low; somewhere around 5.25. Plus, their shipping is $9.99. It was mentioned that there is free shipping on orders over $25, so, if true you could always buy something else from them (and worry whether you will get it). So, YMMV on this. NewEgg has an estimated in stock date of 3/3/04 at a price of $59 plus $5 shipping. After same $20 rebate, that works out to $44. With PCMall you'd pay less ($34.99 plus whatever else you buy) but take more of a gamble as the "Egg" has a better rep. It's your call on that as to who you want to buy from.

PS: Not crapping here, just showing options.

The offering through e-Cost details the free shipping at the top of the web page. The order price is $44.00 which more than qualifies. So there's no ymmv on this.

The only issue for the e-Cost offering is that they list just so many for shipment. The rebate is valid thru 3/31/04. While $64 from NewEgg isn't a bad price, saving $40 is much better. ;)

Both PCMall (which has B&M presence in the SouthBay area of LA) and e-Cost have been in business for many, many years longer than NewEgg. PCMall is a regular advertiser in the Saturday sports section of the Los Angeles Times and has been for more than 15 years.

I'd jump on this if I needed another pc-card as my after rebate cost on the one I bought earlier from CompUSA was $39.99 plus tax and stamp. This offering is close to that price before rebate. btw... CompUSA has been completely out of stock on these for the past week.

You're right that I missread the part about the shipping. However, I did not missread their Resellersratings score. It's not good. Makes no diff if they have been in business longer than the 'Egg. Not relivant. Compare their score to Newegg and SVC's at (lifetime) 9.72 and 8.93 respectively. PCMall isn't even close. I never said this was a deal killer but it should raise a red flag and buyers should aware of this. This would be a heck of a deal, if all comes through as it should. With Newegg or SVC, I wouldn't hesitate. With PCMall, while tempting, I'm not sure.

How is showing Resellersratings (which everyone looks for) even close to a "semi-thread crapping"? Those are something that all buyers should at least look at. If you read my last post you will see that I never said it was a deal killer. In fact I also said it would be a heck of a deal if all came through. Geez, get a grip.

From the OP I suggested that e-Cost is the better deal with the free shipping over $25. Even after learning that they do charge a couple dollar item handling fee, it's still the best way to go on this. Someone must be buying them up, as I just checked before this posting and they listed 5 items left, with 26 hours to go on special $44 offer.

I've posted this deal elsewhere and people have said they've had no problems with orders in the past from e-Cost. Of course YMMV as with anything ;)

russ,
I'm glad for the others that have had no problems. I still feel it is important to show all sides and those resellersratings are a worry. They are not there for nothing. You can excuse parts to just missunderstandings or bad communications; but not all. That is the ONLY reason I mentioned them. I have no wish to "kill" a deal in others minds; rather just make sure they are aware of the risks. Heck, there are risks even ordering from a "dependable" site. "Stuff" happens.

Look at the bright side of things......my posts provided extra bumps for the thread, especially because they were an open invitation to respond/bump the thread without waiting the "normal" time. ;)

I really have no issue with your post. I also like to check ratings if its a vendor I'm unfamiliar with. And thanks for your input.

I thought that this offer price was too good to pass up. After ordering this same pc card for myself from CompUSA at the beginning of last month and paying about $69 plus tax minus $30 in mir's, I thought I'd pass this deal on to AT'rs.

fwiw: Regardless of the ratings, buying from an established vendor with history, is much better than from some vendors that may fold next month.

btw... it would appear that e-Cost is updating this offering as they now list 56hrs left and 35 in stock.

just got mine yesterday. don't have the turbo router yet so can't really say anything about the product, but the service from ecost was quite good. they shipped it out the next day after i ordered it and i received it after just 2 days. although the resellerrating might not be the best, my experience has been quite good.

I didn't notice that in the SoCal Fry's ad's. Was that in the big Friday ad or in one of the single page ads?

Saw it while in the store yesterday, so not sure exactly which ad it was in. However, the tag did say the price was good till 3/30.
