I bought one of these cheapies from these guys last year. Don't expect to receive any Smokey the Bear updates from truckers miles and miles away from ya.
Pretty good for things like Jeep trail rides, or hunting for example. Anything short-range would be well suited for these, if you don't have FRS radios...

I got one of these and the range is pretty limited. Every once in a while hear some noise however and its neat when traveling distance on hgihways cause truckers will call out cops

I got mine, it's pretty awesome, we're at least a coule of miles off of I-225 here in Denver and I can pick up truckers clear as a bell on it. This is really going to be nice since we're going on a road trip to Georgia next week. Should be a nice way to pass the time. ;

One thing I noticed is that I think my unit was a refurb, as there's a small crack in the display glass. No biggie, works great, but anyone else notice anything with theirs that indicates that these are used?
