Launch applications via remote control interface

I have a HTPC and I would like to be able to launch different apps via my remote control.

I currently use my remote to control Media Center, Hulu Desktop, VLC, File Manager, and a BluRay playback software. The remote works great and can even close the applications when I'm done. However, when I want to launch a new application, I have to pull out the mouse.

Is there a nice interface where I can have a handful of programs launchable by remote control?
 
Nothing I know of with a pre-built interface. You can create your own though to do anything you want the pc to do with event ghost.
It has a drag and drop interface for most things and supports python scripting for the more advanced stuff.
