Spree is a punk, by choking his coach.

But, in this instance he comes off as the spoiled child.

You get enough people telling you that you hold all the cards and you start to believe it.

Everyone needs to grow up. However, the NBA makes it awfully hard for many to do so.

There is NO WONDER why international basketball players are calling NBA players a bunch of overpaid spoiled brats. Just look at Sprewell and now Cassell is b|tching about his contract too! NBA players are so feeble-minded. When did it become a sign of disrespect when an organization doesn't offer a contract extension? I hope Sprewell goes into the FA market and gets burned because 27M/3yr. contract is damn good. I'll be laughing my a$$ off when he is getting the mid-level exception.

Sprewell makes a reference about feeding his family. Ok, what exactly are they eating that requires him to make more than 9 million a year?!

Sprewell, get a hint. You are overpaid and you are, and never were, worth your contract!!!

many pro players are over paid. not just basketball. because the mgmt is willing to pay them. examples are everywhere, they take a gamble hoping it'll bring a championship to the town. some players are worth it, like KG, then there are busts like Juwan Howard.. even fruity cry baby lying sack o a-rod.

spree is an idiot for saying what he did, but it's proof once again that you can be dumb as rocks and still be a good ball player. on his support tho, this will prolly be his last contract, so he's gonna try to gouge as much as he can. but greed can backfire.. it'd be funny to see how it unfolds. i get to see the wolves in 16 days. so we'll see.

I"M SOOOO HAPPY the season's finally here!!!

are you kidding? Last year in the playoffs, the only thing Wally did when he got in the game was throw up ill advised shots whenever he touched the ball, he never passed. Two years ago, there was a not so private feud between KG and Wally because Wally kept shooting and shooting. Spree has got great chemistry with Cassell and KG, he ressurected his career last year with his numbers. Yes, he is a rather controversial character but he was never a problem last year.

Gone are the day when sports heroes were really somebody to look up to and admire for their athletic feats. Now it's all about greed, endorsements and thuggish lifestyles overshadowing their accomplishments. There won't be any more Babe Ruths, Mickey Mantles, etc. who weren't paid much but played the game because they loved it.

Here's a little more to add to Sprewells pristine reputation -

Sprewell cited after argument with police officer

November 3, 2004
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Latrell Sprewell of the Minnesota Timberwolves received a misdemeanor citation Tuesday after being involved in a verbal confrontation with a police officer.

Sprewell, who was criticized by NBA Commissioner David Stern for comments he made regarding a contract extension, was riding in a vehicle that was stopped in downtown Minneapolis about 6 p.m. Tuesday, police spokesman Ron Reier said.

Sprewell spoke up while the driver was being questioned about licensing and insurance.

``Somehow, Sprewell attempted to intervene in the situation,'' Reier said. ``He was then ordered to not interfere.''

Sprewell ignored the order and was ticketed for failing to obey the lawful order of a police officer, Reier said.

Sprewell has demanded that the team extend his contract, or he'll ask to be traded. Sprewell averaged 16.8 points last season and is due to make $14.6 million this year.

Timberwolves vice president Kevin McHale declined to comment about the citation.

I am a Timberwolves fan and Sprewell makes me sick. I would say that we should let him ride and treat him like dirt but Cassell wont like that and Sam is desrving of a big salary. Sprewell is very replaceable but Cassell on the other hand would be a difficult spot to fill.
