Well after a long time of trying to figure out how to get a 1600x900 lcd screen to work in my e6420 that came with a 1366x768 screen, I finally found the solution. this may also apply to other Latitude models (possibly the e54xx series as well as the other e64xx models).
When I initially tried to upgrade the screen, the 1600x900 would work but appeared "fuzzy" nothing I would do would fix it, updated bios, updated drivers, checked connections, etc. Read that the 1366x768 screen could only be replaced by the same resolution screen. Just recently I discovered that the 1600x900 models used a different ribbon cable. Same motherboards, but the difference is the ribbon cable. Got me a lcd cable for the 1600x900 models and now the upgraded screen works perfectly.
