Latin

To fulfill my foreign language proficiency requirement, I've decided to learn Latin. It's been enjoyable so far. I heard it gets to be a pain next semester, however. How many other people are taking/have taken Latin? Did you find it enjoyable as well?

I never took Latin myself, but I had friends who took it and my roommate my freshman year was majoring in it. I think that the best thing about learning Latin is the increased understanding that people get in the English language. I had a few English teachers in high school encourage people to learn some Latin someday.

The only good thing about learning latin is that it will make learning other languages a lot easier and it will make sciences and figuring out definitions of words easier because so much is based off of latin. It's a great language to learn and not a waste of time.

Learn Japanese or Chinese (If you school has it)
ALways helps to learn an asian language in the tech world

Yeah Latin:beer:

On my third semester of Latin out of the four I have to do. Having a lot of fun. You actually get help in English because you learn a lot of words coming from Latin, words that people do not use anymore.

It gets harder when you read actual texts. I am doing Cicero and Sallust right now and some passages are so tough that the prof had trouble translating.😀

Yeah, I'll have to do four as well. I'm not exactly excited about translating actual texts. We'll see.

Yeah, we are.

I had 4 years in high school and one semester in college. I could read some Cicero and stuff at one point, but I let it slip. I loved the language. I've found its uses here and there (especially if you're Catholic and read the documents and stuff). It really helps, like everyone said, learning Romance languages. Like all languages though, I'm afraid, if you don't keep up with it, you'll lose it.
