News Latest update for OneDrive now requires a reason if the user chooses to exit the app

They are not the only one's asking for information upon deletion. This has been going on for years with many ' apps '.

Who needs a cloud storage anyway?
( Only companies unable to afford security or maintenance )

We have been getting by without sending our private information for someone else to store before 'One Drive' was forced on us by MS. Is it really protected ? ( No ) Eventually, every 'provider' has a 'issue' with security.

Buy an extra SSD for imaging, and your choice of disk maintenance software. You can always move the image to a offline disk.

Life will go on ... without 'One Drive '

Even Google has eliminated ' cloud storage ' for personal use now.
( Picasa = Google photos = soon to be extinct )

IMO --- They are only prepping us for " pay for storage "
( once you spent the time and effort to upload - they will force you to pay at some point in the future - don't be fooled )

I use it a lot ~250GB and I have a family 365 subscription. Mostly it is so my family photos are stored and easily shared with my family. I also use an external hdd for backup, but I do that maybe 2-3 time a year.

Personally I think you get good value for the family plan.

For my use cloud storage is a non-starter. Any file syncing to the cloud totally screws my internet connection if allowed to run. The up speed is about slightly higher than dial-up speeds. the down is around 20mb.
