Latest Smallville Episode

I happen to be a big Smallville fan. I was puzzled by something in the latest episode though. At the end of the episode from last week I thought that Martha Kent decided to keep working for Lionel Luther. At the beginning of this week's episode Lionel Luther said he suspected that Martha Kent was no longer in his employment. I don't get it, why would he suspect that if Martha decided to keep working for him?

Did you see the episode before that where they were taken hostage and Martha found the documents about Clark?

This episode occured the day after the previous episode ended. Lionel Luther hadn't talked to Martha Kent since that night.

Yeah, that is the episode I am talking about. At the end of that episode Martha Kent was cotemplating resigning from Luthorcorp but she decided not to.

Because Mr. Kent argued with Lionel over the watch so Lionel suspected Martha would probably quit due to Jonathan.
