I don't know why anyone would buy these cards for $250. You can buy an Asus 5800 retail at newegg as well and get twice the fill rate/pipelines for $275 shipped?
$275 shipped 5800
For $25 more, I'd rather get the real card, not a crippled version.

Is this 5800 the newer model or is it from the same batch as the Cyclone Blowdryers ?

Just checked the online flyer from Bestbuy & the PNY is the new revision 5600U - 400/400
As an added bonus , Splinter Cell is included with it ;)

It's the newer model. I have an MSI 5800, OCs to 500/1000 easily. There is no reason to buy the 2 pipeline 5600. I got Ghost Recon, Morrow Wind, and a bunch of other software I don't use with the MSI model.

Thanks for bringing this up Rollo ;)

I'll just purchase a newer 5800 . Do you know of any Benchmarks that pit the 5600U against the 5800 ?

IMO, the real question is: why spend $250-275 on a 5600U or 5800 rather than $210 on a 9700? The nV bundles are probably better, but I'd take the superior hardware at the lower price.

Again, IMO, of course--you may need an nVidia card, in which case the 5800 is a better buy than a 5600U. But then, why not wait for the 5900 Value to appear? It promises to be more capable than the 5800, meaning faster in DX9 titles; and with a 256-bit memory bus, it may be as fast or faster in current games.

Have fun running your games without AA and Ansio then
Hmm you must not have followed Blastmans link Tabb, or you just don't have any idea what you're talking about.

Is 87fps at 10X7, 4XAA 8X AF "without AA and AF"???
The 9700 Pro is only at 93, so is that "w/o AA and AF" too, or does that 6fps make the difference?

Here the 5800 is faster at 4X/8X, so is that "without AA/AF"??

As fast as the 9700s at UT2003 too

I guess you just have no idea what you're talking about Tabb, but that's ok. Very few people do. If you want to sound smarter, you might say something like "The 9700 series cards have more memory bandwidth and more efficient AF. This would allow you to run higher levels of AA/AF at the same framerates". Then you might be contributing something of value to the conversation!
