T-mobile plans are substantially cheaper than AT&T iPhone plans.
For my iPhone 3g on AT&T, I was paying $105 a month for 900 minutes ($60), 1500 txt msgs ($15; unlimited is $20), and mandatory $30 data plan.
Looking at tmobile's site, the $79.99 "mandatory" plan for the subsidized nexus one is includes 500 minutes, and unlimited data and txt. 1000 minutes should be $89.99, and unlimited minutes for $99.99. Those are standard tmobile "even more" plans for any subsidized phone. So comparative AT&T plans would be $50 for unlimited data and txt PLUS the voice portions at about $40 for 450 minutes, $60 for 1000 minutes, or $99 for unlimited! That's $90/$110/$150 for AT&T vs $80/$90/$100 for tmobile....$10 to $50 a month difference.
I'm also pretty sure you could buy the unsubsidized nexus one for $530, activate with tmobile, and save $20 a month on any of the tmobile plans. With a cost difference of $350, your payback for going unsubsidized is about 18 months. And the phone is unlocked (although tmobile and wind are the only providers in the US that the nexus one 3g speed will work with).
This info is based off of published AT&T and tmobile plans. However, having an iPhone, I called AT&T this morning, selected cancel, spoke to a retention employee, and was able to have my voice switched to 1000 minutes, no roll over, for $40 a month, bringing my bill down to $85 a month. So you can bring the AT&T rates down a bit if you are I contract.

Paul
