Hey everyone,

I was really impressed by the latest NVIDIA video drivers. They actually have support for Virtual Desktop built into them, and you can access all the settings from Control Panel. It's really nice, I can be playing Warcraft III on one Virtual Desktop, and checking email on the other :)

I suggest you check it out...

The virtual desktop thing is cool. That's one (of many) things I really like about KDE over Windows. The Nvidia virtual desktop works much better the XP powertoys one, IMHO. Plus it works in 2k also.

Well, basically you run the NVIDIA control panel, and then you can create/remove virtual desktop. Then, you can assign a hotkey to Next Workspace and Previous Workspace. I have mine set as Ctrl-Alt-Left and Ctrl-Alt-Right (just like in WindowMaker).

Also, if you right click on the titlebar of an application, you can send it to a different desktop.

Very nice. The reason I gave a link to a non-NVIDIA site is because the latest NVIDIA drivers on the NVIDIA site seem to have the refresh rate locked in OpenGL, so you can no longer use NVMax to maximize OpenGL refresh rates.

I'm not - try running Serious Sam2 for around an hour. It's the first time ever that I've seen a lockup that was actually caused by nVidia's drivers and it's happened to me a few times, not just once. Going back to the 2311s fixed the problem.

Totally and utterly unacceptable.

28.32 drivers for me are very stable, never had any lockups or problems with them yet, however it would be impossible to check every possible game with them.

Unreal Tournament keeps locking up, its the only program that does. Drivers or UT issue? Im fine in 23.x versions, so I would assume its the drivers.

I play UT fine with the 28.32 drivers,no problems at all for me,so for you it could be anything are you playing in D3D or OpenGL mode?

That's no excuse. Drivers should be programmed to generically handle any program that calls them properly. Also Serious Sam2 is a new release and the 2832s are the first official drivers from nVidia to support GF4 chipsets.

You don't seem to grasp the significance of this crash.

It doesn't lock up for me but it's very slow, in both OpenGL and Direct3D. In fact most of the 27xx drivers also have this problem as well.

I haven't experienced any problems or slowdowns yet with the 28.32 drivers. That includes UT (not Serious Sam 2 though). In fact I just played UT for about 1.5 hrs straight (yes I'm bored) and it didn't and hasn't crashed in months.

As I`ve stated UT runs fine for me ,if you`ve a problem your only options are to try different drivers etc,at the end of the day everybodys hardware is different that`s why you get different replies to which Nvidia drivers are the best,my input on the current 28.32 drivers is so far they work fine.
