Latest Nonsense from Wachovia Bunk

Sent an email to Wachovia Bunk complaining that I could not order deposit slips at their web site. They came back and said that 400 deposit slips cost $6 and gave instructions on how to order. This morning I tried to order deposit slips at local bank and received same story that they will cost $6, but with my account I have unlimited free checks, which also happen to come with free deposit slips.

So I now will go back to web site and order a set of checks I don't need, just to get the deposit slips.

This makes no sense, you would think a bank would want to encourage their customers to make deposits. Obiviously they want to make their money by charging customers miscellaneous fees. What a sad state of affairs. Does not seem any way to run a bank.

Sorry to rank & rave over such a small amount. The dumbness just has me upset.

I do most of my banking online. May have to do all of it at an online bank.

Your bank needs deposit slips?

The Citibank I use on campus just asks you to swipe your card. The Citibank at home has deposit slips in the bank, so you could essentially take as many as you want (if you use Citibank). I also get free checks with my account (but I basically have 100+ checks, where I'll use maybe 1 every 6 months).

They don't have deposit slips in the lobby? I just grab a stack of those and keep them in my desk.

Just go into your local branch and take a stck of the generic deposit slips from the table that's there. Granted, you'll have to manually fill out your name, address, account number, etc., but they're free, too.

Just tried to order checks online and received message:

We're sorry - online check ordering is not available for your account at this time. Please contact the financial institution for assistance.

Looks like they don't want me to get checks or deposit slips till next Saturday.

Why do you feel compelled to order online? They could have processed your order while you were AT THE BANK or you could have picked up a stack of slips from the counter AT THE BANK.

I haven't bought deposit slips in 5 years. I just go into the lobby and take a pile of deposit slips they have for customers.

And I bank at Provident and Wachovia.

Instead of wasting their money by ordering free checks that you won't use, why not go to the bank and take some blank deposit slips. If you don't feel like writing your name and account number each time, you could spend 10 minutes doing some trial and error to print them on with Microsoft Word + a printer.

Maybe they know you haven't used your old checks yet...

I don't see a problem with this. Maybe you just want something to complain about?

If I wanted custom deposit slips pre-filled with my name and account numbers, I'd expect to pay for them. And $6 is pretty cheap for 400 of the that'll last you a long time, unless you're in the habit of depositing money $1 at a time.

Common sense FTW :)

Imagine that picking up deposit slips while AT THE BANK.

I just use them for the occasional rebate check that I receive.
