Even More Forums Coming Soon - 06/07/2007 07:38 PM

If all goes to plan, we're scheduled to introduce a few new forums this weekend. Among these will be PC Gaming and Console Gaming. These highly requested forums will serve to seperate gaming issues from general software issues and focus topics on computer or console based games and hardware.

We are currently polling members in FS/T and ATOT in an effort to determine the popularity of a couple other forum ideas. First, we are looking at moving WTB requests to a seperate forum. After the response we had this past weekend on the automotive section, we are looking for feedback on the creation of a single new forum for automotive issues, especially from the ATOT crowd.

In addition to these possibilities, we're also planning on rolling out a couple other forums. Please stay tuned!

Automotive? No. I'd like to see something good stay in OT.

Separate WTB/FT-FS, all for it!

I really, really hope they make a poll as to whether or not to split PC and Console gaming. From what I've seen, most people would want to keep them together.

Serious question: Why should they be together?
They are two separate platforms. You can't play one on the other.
If I was to look for help on Halo for PC, I'd get tired of clicking on links and finding out it's for Xbox and not PC. I also don't think people would tag the threads for the platform, IE:
Console: Halo

Several reasons. Mainly, I dont think theres much of a deliniation between PC and console gamers. Theres a lot of cross platform titles as well. Theres a lot of gaming discussion that is relevant to gaming in general, and not a particular title or platform. Most importantly, I wouldn't see it mostly as a help forum like tech support or YAGT, but a discussion forum like OT.

Like I've said regarding the auto forums...the forums should be built around the people, not the other way around.

Not to mention the informal poll I posted a while ago was heavily in favor of keeping them together.

Given that the vast majority of posts I've read have thought the current and further splitting up of the community is a bad idea, this shows that the dev are really listening.

And, yes, the posts on these forums are becoming a little too sparce for my tastes.

I also think they should combine PC and console gaming into one forum. I can't think of any reason to make them seperate. They basically use the same hardware nowadays, most games are ports anyway, and most everyone play both formats.

I guess we're not seeing the new forums this weekend, though? I was looking forward to the super secret ones.
