Hey guys,

I was facing some issues using Wifi through my onboard network card. I looked into updating the drivers and realized that the latest drivers are Win8 and not Win10. Is it safe to still install them?

You can try and see what happens. If it doesn't work, you can just uninstall it.

However, if we knew what motherboard you are talking about, and what wifi adapter you are dealing with, that would would be pretty helpful information.

The Motherboard is an Intel DZ87KLT-75K and has an onboard wifi adapter. Driver says MediaTek but the intel document on the motherboard says RALINK.

While looking for more info I came across some threads where folks had major issues after updating to Windows 10 and I'm wondering if I should just buy a USB Wifi stick instead..

You can try installing drivers for it and see if it works properly. I read the thread you probably came across on the Intel forums, so it might be the best to replace it with something that is current and with driver support. The last driver for the wifi on that motherboard was 2011.

Also, it looks like Ralink was purchased by Mediatek in 2011, so that's probably why nothing newer is popping up.

Cheers man! I think I'll ditch the onboard wifi adapter and go for the cheapest option - 10 foot Cat6 cable from my range extender to the desktop.
