The seperate media pan isn't very functional, and it gets old having a seperate pad. I ended up getting the MX Duo for Bluetooth instead. I like the media controls on it better, it has great range, and it's only $150 as compared to the Di Novo's $170.

That is pretty cool, I would imagine that the novelty of having the detached numbere pad would wear off after a while, but still really cool.

i think i would rather just have a separate remote that used the same bluetooth hub. I agree that the detached numpad would get old. It's a good idea though. I use the non-bluetooth mx duo keyboard and it is awesome

well the detached pad helps with keyboard placement...for those with tight spaced desks, can put the pad somehwere else. i don't use it all the time really... having the mouse pad closer to the keycoard for us right handers.. thats kinda nice.

Why did you go with the Bluetooth MX Duo instead of the regular MX Duo? Other than the Bluetooth hub I don't see anything different, and for twice the price I don't think it's justified (well unless you really need Bluetooth on the PC).

Here is an older thread on this setup from Logitech. Very sexy looking item. I

am waiting a little longer to buy this. Once they improve on the drivers for this, it will be a great setup.

Are you sure those differ by only $20? If thats the case I would have gone with the Di Novo...

logitech has been pissing me off lately. I mean, I love their products, but all of their new wireless keyboards can't be purchases without the mouse.

you have to get in early friend :) i've got both an optical wireless mouse and wireless keyboard from logitech. they actually sell the package, but i bought them at seperate time. i really love 'em. my mouse is realyl basic with 2 buttons + scroll. i've been wanting to trade up to thier contoured mouse with the forward/back buttons by the thumb. it makes it realyl handy when you're playing games like bf1942 and need quick teamspeak talk `keys`. unfortunately it's too much coin for me to drop atm for a whole new combo :(

hmmm... just saw this on slashdot:

prostoalex writes <I>"Rob Enderle is typing away (perhaps even on his very own Ferrari laptop) at Intel Developer Forum, noting that Intel gave up on IEEE Ultrawideband and decided to switch to Wireless USB derivative. This, in Mr. Enderle's opinion, signifies the end of life for Bluetooth standard, although Enderle calls Bluetooth 'dead' in the title of the article and 'all but dead' in the actual text."</I>

too bad they're giving up. cool devices (like a bluetooth-enabled headset for you bluetooth phone) were jsut startig to emerge

I already had a regular MX duo. It worked about 6ft away. I needed about 15ft.

how'd you pull that one off?

I have an MX700 mouse, and love the new keyboard, but don't really want to be stuck with a mouse that I can't use :(

Only 6ft? I've seen much higher distances quoted on sites. One site even mentioned that the Bluetooth combo actually has a shorter range than the RF MX Duo. Also - at work there is an Elite Duo (same as MX but with the Mouseman Optical instead of MX700) and it gets at least 12ft of range. I'm really hoping to get more than 6ft from the MX Duo I requested my brother to get me in the US. :(

the MX duo thing: probably interference from something

Anyway i think that detached numpad would rock for gaming, change your controls to use only the numbad and you can put it anywhere instead of kinking your wrist around to reach WASD

You mean the range thing? So it should be more than 6ft right? :)

Go ahead and check logitech's web site. MX Duo is gauranteed to work at 6ft, bluetooth at 30ft.

Nebor, you're right :(. Although it says that it works as a corded mouse at up to 6ft, it also says that the range is 6ft in the RF tech page. This is sad. Doesn't anyone get any more range than 6ft? I was really hoping to be able to control my PC from the bed. :(

Hey, come on, don't make fun of me :). And sorry for the thread hijack.. here - a comment on topic. The Di-Novo looks gorgeous. But that media pad seems kinda bulky for a remote. And $250 MSRP? They better cut that by $50 or more if they want that thing to sell to anyone except the most deperate gadget junkies. :)

So Loki, why don't you move the base further away from the monitor? Say on the ground? :)
