Well I would want to believe..but

I know that UMC's 40nm doesn't seem to have those same problems as TSMC's and UMC is ready for mass production..so they could be ideal canditate to build G300 GPUs initially. Because of the price point of G300..UMC production limitation shouldn't be big issue.

It would be great to have both NV and ATI next gen cards released around the same time Win7 is released.

But there has been no news of a GT300 tap out yet, so I don't believe the news on that site is very accurate. It is possible NV is holding things close to the chest, so we'll have to wait and see I guess.

NV can hold it as tightly to their chest as they like, but one of the inherent problems with not being vertically integrated like Intel is that as soon as tape-out completes you then get second and third-party businesses involved and it is their employees that could give two shits about being tight lipped.

This is why it is so much easier to get reliable information out of Taiwan on NV's progress and timelines versus Intel, for instance. That's not to say there aren't some wannabe speculation sites out there who just make up stuff to see if it sticks and generates some hits in the meantime, but the info is out there.

Well samething was with G80 and G200.

He's the same guy that said K10 would score 30k in 3d mark06 and that the laptop with the scores got stolen. When the real scores came out they weren't even close to that.

I had forgot about that, that's right, he had this whole saga about the totally bogus scores and refused to ever admit it. Didn't he have another scandal over fake benchmarks called rightmark or some such where it was proven he doctored the screen shots?

Hey IDC, I'm not sure about doctored screen shots from Theo, but I think there was at least two times where he reported stuff as "fact" and were later found to be all lies. I personally don't believe much of his reporting, that's why in my earlier post I said there was no news of GT300 tapping out even though I had read Theo's news a few weeks ago :)

Yes AMD already has running silicon of their new DX11 hardware and an October release is highly probable.

The GT300 is the Nvidia part though.

Ah, it was Fuad (fudzilla, while working TheINQ) not Theo.

Ah I remember that now, Fuad and the hoax Rydermark screenshot.

But you know, for a while now I've been regularly checking Fudzilla and it seems that their news/rumors are pretty accurate for the most part.

That is my observation too. I'm personally the forgive and forget kind of individual as people change and develop over time.

I am nowhere near being the same arrogant brash overconfident person that shares my same name and SSN from some 10-20yrs ago.

IMO Fuad "grew up" sometime in these past 5 yrs, to hold his past against him is to do both him and me a disservice...he has info I can use (so why prevent myself from acquiring it?) and he is surely not the same person today that he was when he made those poor career choices so many years ago.

At any rate I have noticed that a surprising (to me) amount of the stuff posted on fudzilla "checks out" when I ask around. I'm hopeful BSN (Theo) proceeds down a similarly rewarding maturation process.

I would say Charlie was by far the worst over at the Inq. Although now he also left to start his own site.

Well newest Fuad farce:
http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/14165/1/
He's saying how Nvidia's new 40nm mobile GPUs would be DX10.1 + support GDDR5.

..but one day earlier it was reported that these mobile GPUs would be DX10 (as anyone should have already known) + GDDR3

http://www.cpusers.gr/showthread.php?p=25221
http://translate.google.com/tr...a&tl=en&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
http://news.driversdown.com/News/200906/05-11271_4.html

Fuad said how this would be GT200 done right, but these mobile parts were just die shrinks from G90-family.

DX10.1 support for the GTS2x0M series is even on nVidia's official site:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/p...force_gts_260m_us.html
Click "Features" or "Specifications", and it's right there in front of you.

As for DX11, last night I had nothing to do, so I ported my D3D10 engine over to D3D11. I'd be very happy if nVidia or AMD would just release DX11 drivers for their existing hardware, and if Microsoft releases a final runtime. If the price (and performance) is right, I'll buy a DX11 card as soon as they're available. Just not if they're $500+. I've been holding out for an upgrade anyway.
