Well if that's how it happened (extension cord IN the tub) then this really can't be blamed on the product,
However, those apple chargers aren't polarized (one prong larger than the other) so it would be possible to have a hot leg connected to the neutral side of the primary. That's a bad way to describe this I know. And since these SMPS have input allowance of 85~250VAC 50/60Hz it wouldn't matter anyways. Or using them say onboard ships with delta power where both legs are hot. Yes last time we checked both legs were hot here. Hmmm...

Ok seriously, if one trusts this little box made in China to have sufficient isolation to protect leakage from mains power reaching the device and energizing it?!

It just isn't safe regardless. If you INSIST on using while near a tub (actually the most common place is a hot tub) by all means use a power bank.

Electricity + water. Everyone on the planet who lives in a country with electricity learned about this shit by age 7. I have a five year old niece who knows if it's plugged into the wall, don't get water on it, near it, over it, etc. That may not cover the minutia of batteries and non-powered wall outlets, but it'll keep you from killing yourself with a phone charger in the tub.

This obviously isn't Apple's fault but they do make the worst chargers and cords I've ever seen and considering the price premium it awful.

Place I used to work at I had to issue a magsafe, magsafe 2, or iphone cord every other day. Contrast with thinkpad power cords I think I had to replace one every few years. Whatever gauge apple uses the need to improve it.

Except for the guy
1. Standing barefoot
2. on a metal ladder
3. in a pool
4. with wet clothes on
5. using a corded drill

However he is wearing his goggles. Safety first!

Unfortunately he's probably already reproduced, thus these errant genes won't be removed from the pool... This is why we need to bring back child labor, weed these guys out before they make more.

G'damnit we're overdue on this lesson to our boys.

You probably are, most households have a few dozen ways to kill a toddler if you're looking away for more than 30 seconds. It's in your best interest to get the basics drilled in quick.

I didn't read the OP's link, but nothing in the excerpt indicates that Apple was blamed. Did you read something that blamed Apple?

[edit]
Yeah. I clicked the link and I see where the guy said "there should be a warning." Is it necessary to put such a warning on every charger, every package, every device? Really?

You don't put AC power in the bathtub with you. Period.

"WARNING: DO NOT ELECTROCUTE YOURSELF."

Personally I think we should remove a lot of the existing absurdly common sense warnings like DO NOT EAT on boxes of rat poison. Think of it as a little chlorine for the gene pool.

Holy moly that guy is looney tunes. I am so scared of heights and just watching 30 seconds of the video set me off. Not only is he balancing on such a narrow ledge, he is swinging a heavy sledgehammer into stuff which could easily throw off your balance. And he is demolishing wall so close to where he is standing that something beneath his feet could crack and fall off. Oy Vay.

Got that info from another forum, someone who had more details on the incident I guess.

Some people just don't understand.

Interestingly if the power bar was to fall in they'd probably be safe as long as they're far enough from it. The pool is a fairly good isolator so not much current will travel far from the power bar (ex: in a bath tub it would try to go to the drain). Most of it would be traveling from one prong to the other. Still a very stupid thing to do though!

Imagine being married to someone that dense. After that (assuming they survived), I think the most advanced tool I would trust them with is a spoon. A plastic one of course.
I would get a HUGE life insurance policy on them!

The toaster in the bathtub is in a murder scene in the movie "Supervixens".
