It's time to start taking the Donald seriously.
http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/04/politics/donald-trump-poll-cnn-orc-national/index.html

He's decimating his opponents in polling and is actually starting to look like a viable candidate in recent interviews like this one 2 days ago. Whoever is coaching him is doing a great job, he's looking more polished than ever like in that interview.

Even more impressive is that he's pulling this out of his ass against the GOP establishment who doesn't want him as their candidate and is doing anything and everything to stop him.

Dang, he's building a significant lead. Expect smear campaigns by the left / media to kick into high gear soon.

I like how you're already trying to convince yourself that Donald Trump being a piece of shit is someone other than Donald Trump's fault.

Whatever it takes to keep the bubble I guess.

This. Trump doesn't need the media to reveal himself as a complete buffoon. He does that every time he opens his mouth. If I were a Republican I'd find this an awfully scary turn of events, because he is setting the table for a landslide Hillary victory.

Oh, you mean a Wall Street victory... unlike every other election in the past 40 years....

Trumpmentum!

Hey man, Trump has promised to get rid of the M&Ms!
(Mexicans and Muslims)
That's worth 36% right there!

lol, have you been ignoring the smear campaign against Trump by GOP and Fox news that has been ongoing since at least the first debate?

I saw that the odds are high for a brokered Republican convention. **warning some may be wrong**
Essentially a candidate needs to have majority support in 5 of the first 8 preliminaries (majority is harder than 51%) if not the candidates can press on. The interesting thing is with so many candidates that may not be possible so everyone could continue on or some weird horse trading could happen between Rubio, Bush, Kasich(sp?). Trump & Cruze don't have any friends besides tentatively each other. Could turn out to be a Royal Rumble.

Actually, no. If there's another muslim attack close to the election, it's going to gift the election to Trump since he's polling within striking distance of hillary. Studies show that when crime goes up, the populace almost always votes Republican. Dems better hope ISIS doesn't activate their terror cells in 15 states right before the election.

Yeah, well... that's softball. Next up will be paying multiple people to levy sex charges against him.

Polls at this point are basically meaningless for the general election. He will lose in a rout if it ever gets that far. He would be the most widely loathed candidate ever to receive a major party nomination if I'm not mistaken, as judged by his net negatives.

Except Trump isn't a POS. He's a smart, calculating businessman with the resources and advisors to pull something like this off. Why don't you try running against him if you think he's a POS? Because surely you're smarter and could do better with all that money since you're such a successful baller. Reality: You wouldn't last 3 days into your campaign against attacks in your own party. Let's give the Donald some credit where credit is due.

He might be smart and calculating, but he's still a piece of shit. He's made a living out of acting like a buffoon. He has the resources to pull this off if you're talking about money, but he doesn't have the social and political capital to pull this off. People consider him to be a bloviating, racist ignoramus, which is something that money is unlikely to be able to surmount.

Why don't you try running against him if you think he's a POS? Because surely you're smarter and could do better with all that money since you're such a successful baller.

Did you seriously just say 'If you think Donald Trump is a piece of shit you should run for president to prove it'? Lol.

Well, fivethirtyeight has been writing Trump off for awhile and even they are starting to concede that he has a chance and even writing satirical pieces which always have a bit o' truth to them. You are simply reiterating what Nate Silver is saying, but the devil's advocates have good points as well in that most candidates who have polled well have won:

"1980: Reagan led in polls and won. 1984: Mondale led in polls and won. 1988: Bush led in polls and won. 1996: Dole led in polls and won. 2000: Bush and Gore led in polls and both won. 2012: Romney was top of polls for most of primary and won. That’s seven out of 12 times the person who led in the polls at this point has won. That’s greater than 50 percent. And it’s far greater than the chance you give to Trump at this point."

bwaa hahahaha. Right, take trumplestiltskin seriously. The only thing he does that I take seriously are his racist and misogynistic rants, another asshole fanning the flames of hatred for their own personal gain.

They are referring to primaries, not the general election.

Yes, if you think you are smarter than why don't you run for congress in the least? Many people are quick to judge but don't have the temerity to run themselves. I tell them if they think they can do better, then they should try running locally. Yet none of them will do it.

This relates to Trump's interview, because he says "There are a lot of other thing I could be doing that I enjoy than running." Why is he wasting his time? Because he legitimately wants to change this country and he's unhappy with how it's being run. So if you're unhappy, then run. Print out some flyers and put your face on them and what you stand for. Go door to door with your ground game and compete. Nobody does this because they don't have the balls to do it and/or they think they can't win. That is where Trump is different so I give him credit. A real "POS" in my book doesn't have balls, they just suck up resources from our system and won't do anything to better themselves or what they believe in.

Racist? lol. Everyone is racist to some degree, study after study has proven this. You are either lying if you say you don't have any prejudice or you're in the statistical minority. Look I'm a realist, and the raw data tells us things that we are too scared to discuss. It was pretty ballsy of Trump to bring this to the table and even recent polling confirms that he's touching on a nerve (e.g. most americans oppose admitting syrian refugees. But not getting into the race card, we could talk all day about that in its own thread.

No kidding. What do you think this thread is about? Reread the OP about who the polling was against - Donald is set to destroy anyone in the primaries.

do you not realize that Trump inherited his fortune from his father and that he would be richer today had he invested that inheritance in the general market?

he really isn't that smart or calculating of a businessman.

Trumpism is like crack cocaine for the Repub base- feels great & makes 'em even crazier.

Trump chumps need to try some basic math. ~39% of the electorate are Repub or lean Repub. 36% of that is 14%. That may win the nomination but it sure as Hell won't win the Presidency given that everybody else finds his persona truly repulsive.

Maybe they'll be more rational after venting their rage & frustration. It could happen, right?

This is a dumb argument. I do not need to run for office myself to say that a sack of garbage like Trump is in fact a sack of garbage.

This relates to Trump's interview, because he says "There are a lot of other thing I could be doing that I enjoy than running." Why is he wasting his time? He pretty obviously enjoys the attention from running for president. I sincerely doubt he legitimately wants to change this country if for no other reason than by his own platform and public statements he appears to have put almost no thought into how he would actually change this country. His proposals are cartoonishly naive nonsense.

Are you really so naive as to think that Donald Trump of all people is running for president out of a sense of civic virtue? Like, really? That's amazing.

Racist? lol. Everyone is racist to some degree, study after study has proven this. You are either lying if you say you don't have any prejudice or you're in the statistical minority. I agree that everyone is racist to some degree, but Trump is pretty obviously racist to a substantially larger degree than most.
