What & where are they? Im just confused, i look at creative EU & USA and theyve different dates, Asia seems to have yet newer ones. Searching web finds several other ones, with various dates, but none like to give actual version numbers. Basically I'm looking for the latest version since currently UT2003 fps drops badly when hardware sound is selected, ut2003 readme says to update drivers. Also last time i updated CTHELPER.exe used up 99% cpu; SurMix2.exe (surround sound mixer) has started doing it too.

My drivers are "5.12.1.253"; dated 12/08/2002 (12th Aug, not 8th Dec ;) ). Anything involving "creative driver" in description is imo a dodgy enough driver, so would rather aviod any from suspect sources :)

Audigy Player (Euro name for Gamer) btw.

the lastest audigy 2 drivers released on the asia website work with the audigy also, just extract the files from the exe to any folder and run ctzapxx.exe located in the drivers folder

the lastest driver should be dated 11-22-02 after update and showing ver.5.12.1.323 whql
for more info check driverheaven.net

Please register to view the forums :disgust:

cheers for the info though, dont understand why creative cant list driver versions somewhere, or at least have consistent dates.
Turns out US, EU and Asia sites all just have a multilanguage version of the 26th August Drivers, hopefully these newer ones are better, cheers :)

doh one last thing, should i uninstall current driver first? Probably just going to assume not and go ahead anyway, but if all goes wrong I'll know why ;)

it all goes wrong :/

cant run mixer or speaker in AudioHQ, it says no mixer available. WMP goes apeshit and then gave some message about no sound hardware available or not responding or something. it's not good.

i never tried upgrading from the old aug 26 drivers of 253 to these new 323. I used the full install of the whql 5.12.1.283 then upgraded to these 323 drivers. The full download of the audigy 2 drivers is available for download at the driverheaven forum in one of the long posts.

i downloaded audigy2 driver from creative UK, used WinRAR to extract files and ran the ctzapxx.exe... got those problems, tried to use the file uninstall option and it hung during, had to ctrl+alt+del... oops on reboot it says cannot find or corrupt win/config/system/ or something. A lazy reinstall to backup and a full reformat & reinstall later....

i feckin love creative. I have had ONE problem with this setup since nov 2001 which has not centered around the audigy or it's drivers, and several major ones with it; including at least 3 OS reinstalls and one OS upgrade (98 to XP).

where do i get the .283's??? .253 is after running AUDDRVPACK.exe which is supposed to be last release, or so sayeth their webby.

the 283 can be downloaded at driverheaven forums. Just goto audio general and tech discussion and click on "Audigy2 Drivers SUPPORT Audigy1" thread and download from the link there. instructions can be found there as well.

thats a pretty big thread

TBH i'd stay put with the 253's atm but i''m getting loads of noise with new install

got a bit lost in that thread, how big is the driver file and that "patch" thing the guy made, if it's necessary. Also i take it i need to uninstall current drivers and use a full driver rather than update? I guess thats what caused Death that time - not inst having to do it again, only just got it mostly back as before.
