I just reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and the latest ATI Radeon driver (WHQL-Win7-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-17.4.4-May3):
This is strange because on my previous Win7 installation, this driver installed fine.
I've kept on my hard drive an older driver, whql-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-16.1.1-win10-win8.1-win7-feb12, which installs fine.
At this point I should say that, by choice, I don't update Windows. Lets not get into the conversation why it's better to update. I also know that ATI recommends to have an up to date system in order for the driver to install. However my previous Win7 installation also wasn't updated and the driver installed fine.
I imagine that I must have installed some library (like Visual C++ Redist) that enabled the installation of the latest drivers. Point is I can't remember all the libraries I installed on the older installation.
Any ideas?
