I've installed Catalyst 6.1 a few weeks ago, and I noticed that Windows is a bit sluggish, with (sometimes) some lag when opening windows and submenues. I belive that the Catalyst Control Center has something to do with it. The damn software is slooooow.

I'm downloading ver 5.11 again, as they seem to be the latest avilable without CCC.
 
Strange ...

Never heard about GPU drivers, nor even softwares to run driver settings slowing down general speed on Operating Systems, seriously.

There should be one, or more sources being the cause of the sluggish/stuttering performance.

Make sure you got no Spywares/Malwares/Viruses/Trojans, etc. First and for all. Then, maybe defrag your HDD. Then maybe clean your Registry with some free reg cleaners.

Then you could always un-install all, absolutely all drivers you got (audio, monitor, graphics, and any others you might have) and simply re-install them all.

Oh, and, make sure you're using Driver Cleaner in Safe Mode to get rid of your ATi drivers "traces", before installing a new set of drivers. Simply select "ATI" in Driver Cleaner's options once in Safe Mode, and clean. Then reboot in Normal Mode of course. Then install the new drivers, then reboot again, and voila.

CCC is a bit of a resource pig, no question.

Apparently if you look around on ATI's site you can find the 6.3's with the regular control panel - I think it's in the old video card section or something...?

I would also download latest version of driver cleaner pro and after uninstalling old driver and ccc then run driver cleaner in safemode for ati and ati ccc.

yeah it happened to my pc 3 weeks ago I was forced to re-install xp freshly and it seems run just fine now I am using 6.2 except that the net framework still having problems at shut down now. I might try 6.3
