Latency - what does this mean?

Can someone explain or provide a link to a good explanation about Latency on DDR?

Also what does "2-3-2-6-1" mean in the following:

400MHz settings: 2-3-2-6-1 (CAS Latency 2)

And is this better or worse, and why?
2-2-2-5-1

Thanks!

Latency doesn't mean much nowadays. Lower timings are better, but rarely does this affect performance more than 1% when comparing CL2.5 to CL2. Get some CL2 only if you're overclocking.

If you needed more detailed technical information, there was a link somewhere that I'm too lazy to pull up at the moment.

Google it. Try Adrian's Rojak Pot, they have a BIOS optimization guide that explains almost all BIOS settings, including memory timings
