Latency vs clocks?

I want to know if I would see more benifit from using higher clocks over lower latencies. I remember back in the day AMD favored lower latency while crippletel liked higher clocks. Right now I have DDR3 2133, with a CL of 10, but wouldnt mind running 1600 with a CL of 7 if it would help out with speed. Or does it not even matter?

Thanks, that was very eye opening. The gap between 1333 and 2133 is negligible at best. I Might just underclock my memory to lower voltage and latency.
