Holy shit this is bad. Who thought he would make a good talk show host? It's like watching paint dry. Course I never liked him to begin with so maybe I'm biased?

Yea we had a whole thread about this when it first came out. I saw the first 2 episodes and that was it. A guy that has had years of experience in front of the camera shouldn't be that bad. Conan sucked but that's because it was his first time being in the camera. No excuse for Fallon to be that horrible.

I don't know a single person who watches it, or even anyone who's seen it and not said they thought he was awful.

I watched the first, and a couple here and there. Recently I watched the episode with Mccain which I think was a week ago. He's painfully awkward when doing the monologue. Oddly I sorta liked him in weekend update - you'd think this would be the easiest transition. I liked the slow jams news - that was actually semi decent imo. I didn't like the real housewives of late night. His interview of McCain wasn't bad at all, I didn't watch the rest.

This show has so much going for it and oddly so little. It seems like the kinda show I would totally dig, and yet everytime I watch an episode I'm left wondering "jeez, what was that"

I think his stuff is sorta funny, but nothing has really been "haha I need to see that again and again" funny. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in that his content will get funnier - but I don't think they will delivered any better. I'll give him this - his interviews have been decent (from what I've seen) - he seems to get people to genuinely talk to him on the show rather than the forced question/answer deal. But that's also the part of the show I'm usually least interested in.

Apparently conan is bombing pretty good ratings wise in. hise new spot; although they say it's not much of a concern that the >35 audience has left the tonight show cause the network wants to stress the 18-34 group.

Well, if they kept Carson Dan the air, Jimmy is safe. Watching him spout off his monologue with the enthusiasm of a 12 year old reading a report in front of the class is almost infuriating. I keep thinking "I'M FUNNIER THAN THIS GUY, AND HE HAS HIS OWN SHOW????"

Leno went through the same thing when he took over for Carson. Personally, I think Conan is hilarious. He's got what I call "frat boy humor", which means his comedy deals with things that relate to 20-40 year-olds. His comedy is completely lost on old or disconnected people ("what the hell is Twitter???")Letterman used to have the same thing, but then he tamed himself down as he got older to appeal to grandma and grandpa.

I think Conan will do well in the years to come. However, Jimmy----there's no hope. I think NBC paid him a huge contract to leave SNL and become the next Adam Sandler. Lorne Michaels got him into that Taxi movie a few years back with Queen Latifah, and it turned out (to everyone's horror) that Fallon can't act his way out of a paper bag...nobody would let this guy do another movie. So, he was sitting around with no work and still getting paid by NBC. Then the whole "Jay's leaving Conan is in" thing came about, and NBC said "put Jimmy to work!"

I have no proof, but I'm thinking it went something like that.

someone has to tell jimmy fallon that his fake trying-to-hold-a-straight-face-but-still-end-up-laughing-during-skits schtick is getting old and not funny.
