I seem to recall a late night tv ad about a service that lets you buy expensive household items directly from manufacturers.

I am buying a new house that I will have to be furnishing with a lot of stuff over the next year or two, so it seems like this sort of service could be useful.

Does anybody know what the name of this business is? Does anybody know if it is any good?

ah, DirectBuy.

thanks mzkhadir.

I just did some research. It appears there are a lot of people who hate them and a lot of people who love them. Does anyone here have any experience with DirectBuy?

If it is on at 2AM it is garbage, do not buy into it. you should be asleep as this time of night.

From what I've heard about DirectBuy, it might make sense for people who are looking to spend many thousands of dollars in a relatively short time, like someone building or remodeling a home.

Check out the comments on ripoffreport.com.

Ripoffs: Buying Clubs
? Legitimate warehouse clubs such as Costco, Sam's Club or B.J.'s often can provide excellent savings on merchandise.
? In the legitimate clubs, you pay a membership fee of up to $45 a year and the merchandise is right there on the shelves for you to purchase.
? Illegitimate buying clubs are nothing but catalog distributors. They have a showroom, but that's just a front, because they don't actually have merchandise in inventory.
? Illegitimate buying clubs charge an initiation fee typically of $900 to $1,500, plus an annual membership fee of $50 to $100.
? The ripoff clubs don't care if you ever buy anything from them, but they'll force you to pay the fees, to the point of suing you.
