First let's talk about the good stuff.
Apparently, the Democrats have changed some aspects of the John Lewis bill, such that items that originally in the For the People Act, have been copied over to the John Lewis act that passed both Senate and House. These garments were successfully passed. Once signed, Election Day will become a federal holiday, and voter roll purges will require more stringent oversight. Unfortunately some bedazzled Republicans are now crying out that they want another amendment to the bill, and using this technique as a stall tactic for the bill.
Now lets talk about some big bad stuff that have taken place in congress regarding acts and bills. Just imagine what would be happening if they had the majority.
House Representative Miller, Mary E. who represents IL - 15 Introduced an act that would prohibit federal funds to any local school agency that does not have the ability to offer in class learning for all students that the agency represents.
To prohibit the provision of Federal funds to a local educational agency unless in-person instruction is available to all students at the schools served by the agency.
The same House Representative also introduced another bull that would prohibit federal funds to any local school agency where any of the schools the agency represents, require it's students to wear face coverings, masks, or requiring vaccination.
To prohibit the provision of Federal funds to a local educational agency that requires any student at the schools served by the agency to wear a face covering or be vaccinated against COVID-19.
A House Representative that does not seem to live up to his name, Good, Bob, from VA - 5, has presented an act that would make States that have not made laws similar to the new laws like Georgia has made, from getting any monetary help from the Election Commission.
To amend the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to prohibit the Election Assistance Commission from making payments under such Act to States and jurisdictions which fail to meet certain standards to protect the integrity and certainty of elections for Federal office, and for other purposes.
Looks like a House Representative wants to look at and make available to the public some special aspects of your tax returns, if you meet a special type of tax consultant to help you file your taxes. Your consultant instead will have their entire information publicized. The name of this representative is Gooden, Lance from TX - 5.
To amend the STOCK Act to require the public availability of financial disclosure forms of certain special consultants and information relating to certain confidential filers, and for other purposes.
I thought Republicans were the party of low taxes and more tax exemptions, well that does not seem like the case for Republican House Representative Waltz, Michael, from FL - 6. The act he introduce would not longer exempt the Olympics committee from paying taxes. Don't know what that would mean for the 2028 Olympics if this bill is proposed again if Republicans get controll next cycle.
To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to eliminate the tax exemption of the International Olympic Committee and similar organizations.
