Last Resort: I've tried everything to get keyboard to work in xp (usb or non usb)

All started after a reboot of windows xp yesterday after installing the latest virus definitions for norton.

Only have one user account and it has a password attached to it. So windows boots up to the welcome screen and you enter password to enter.

Problem is when I go to enter the pswd I can't type anything in, the blinding "|" cursor is there, but I'm unable to type anything. Same thing under safe mode.

I've tried three different keyboards, usb, usb 2.0, serial. All work PERFECTLY in DOS, but get no response once windows has loaded into the GUI.

I've tried windows repair, and I get stuck at the serial number screen, for I can't type anything in.

Replaced default drivers for keyboard through dos. (At least I think they were). Last thing I did was comfirm the controller was alright by installing a clean copy of windows on another partition, keyboard works perfectly. So something is causing a conflict, or there is some driver problem. Whatever it is, I've tried everything to my knowledge.

If anyone has any insight, I welcome it! Thanks in advance.

Thanks Adul, afraid that's true. Thought of that after I had restarted into the welcome screen 3 times already. Then when I tried, no change.
