Looking to put together an AMD64 3200+ (939), with an ATI X800XL, 1GB RAM, 74GB Raptor, 200GB Seagate (both SATA), DVD Writer and a few other things.

I have an Antec TruePower 430w PSU, was just wondering if that would be sufficient in powering the system.

Thanks a bunch!

It should be ok, are you planing on overclocking??? I think I would go with something a little bit more just be safe, but that's just my opinion. Some MOBO's are a bit more picky when it comes to the PSU as well, you will need to see if you need a ATX12V version 2.0 PSU as well.

TruePower or True Power II?
check your motherboard if it *needs* a PSU that supports ATX 2.0.1 (24-pin)
btw 430W is enough

No, I don't plan on overclocking. I had read there's a special power connector on the ATI X800XL, I don't think that my PSU has that... is there an adaptor included with the card?

Thanks!

Doesn't seem your PowerSupply is ATX 2.0.1 compliant.
If so they would have PCI-Express connectors to your graphic card
Although adaptors are avilable, you might need a new PSU anyway depending on your motherboard.
Mothboard like DFi *REQUIRES* an 24-pin ATX 2.0.1 compliant PSU

There isn't a special pwr connector on that particular vid card. trust me, I have it, and it doesn't have a molex socket.

Get a psu that is ATX 2.01 compliant. The Antec SmartPower 2.0 series and the Antex TruePower II series are both ATX 2.01 compliant.

I have a SmartPower 2.0 450 Watt supply, btw. Go with a 450 or 430 Watt supply and you should be fine. just make sure it has a 24 pin mobo connector, and not 20 pin, b/c otherwise you're going to starve the pci-e card.

even if he was overclocking, he has plenty of headroom.

Well I like to errr on the cautious side of things and if you look at the important thing, the PSU needs to be 2.0 compliant and it's not, also it needs to have a 24 pin power connector.

I don't know if the x800XL you have does or does not require a 6 pin PCI-E connector, it might though. But if you have a PSU that's certified to comply with the ATX2.0 specs, it'll be fine.

Here is the PSU that he posted he had "I have an Antec TruePower 430w PSU" that's not gonna work with this motherboard!!! if you read the orignal post it would have told you that.

Actually, I just RMAed my TruePower 430w, and they sent me the Antec TruePower II 430w as a replacement. I had problems with it handling load on boot, but its alll fixed now :) Works like a dream!

430w for this setup is plenty.
