So .5 big whoop, but why the .5? That game was amazing, not one part was i disappointed about. I know it depends on the reviewer but still...seen way shitty games get 10.
Its "trendy" to bash stuff nowdays.... way more hits for a website who "dislikes" the new hot game then just another great review.. but.. .5 that's not bad at all for any game.. I think its just fine at 9.5 even if its one of the best games i have played.. non issue.
9.5 is too high a score for that game.
Then again, gaming "journalism" is a complete farce.
From what I've seen the game doesn't even deserve a 7, but I'm judging it on the gameplay, not the story.
I haven't played it yet (because for some silly reason people seem to think their used PS3s are worth $250 when I can buy a new one for $270...), but I take it is rather linear in a gameplay perspective. Not that this is a problem for me, so long as it has a reason (story in most cases). But I can see reviewers disapproving. They want a game with immense story that is non linear with amazing multiplayer and it gives you a blowjob when you do something difficult OR they want money from the publishers; either will make your game rate perfect.
And a 9.5 should be expected. I am sure the game has it's shortcomings and faults. A 10 would have to either have none, or be so overwhelmingly good despite it's faults that they can be easily overlooked.
Also, take into account people might not like the subject matter of the story, and that will bring down it's rating. The zombie apocalypse has been rather played out at this point. Not much new ground is being broken in this genre.
I don't think you can make a lot of those claims without playing it. There may not be groundbreaking things but it sets a new bar for a few aspects to a level never seen before.
