I'm a Korean American. I came here 16 years ago.

All of my friends including myself are no slouch. Most of us came from a humble background and we got our college degree and now making decent money. I certainly think we're nice guys too. We like to have good time, kind to others, and all of us are very family-oriented with good head on our shoulders. I've traveled to Europe, Mexico, and went on a big road trip. I like who I am. And I like my friends.

Yesterday I went to a networking happy hour event. And I met this Korean girl- let's call her Lisa. My friends and I were talking it up and making jokes. It wasn't soon after I realized she's a powerhouse:

*She grew up in Korea where learning English is pretty shit, but she was VERY fluent with little to no accent.

*She got her undergrad in Korea, got into Dartmouth here for MBA, but decided to go to London Business School instead. She also loves Pilates. She loved it so much, she got her int'l certificate (whatever that is) between studying for MBA. She says if 'nothing works out' (sure), she'd like to just open her own Pilates practice.

*She's been visiting the States for mere 3 months. In that short time she already toured through Boston, SF, LA, Chicago, and now here in NY. She's leaving for London this Friday for her school.

*She's pretty hot

*What do regular people say about 'rich kids'? We categorize them as douchebags or spoiled brats. No, she was a real overachiever with a great personality. I saw her pics on FB, she's already dined at all the top restaurants in NY. I've been here for 6 months, and I haven't even done that.

In short, she's rich, smart, self-achieved, has lots of friends, and has a great personality.

Man, for the first time, I not only just wanted to bang her, but I was... truly envious of her. I really felt like she was a 'better person' than me. WTF.

hope your gf doesn't see this thread, OP ;)
but yea, I can relate. I have a few friends from HS who are like that. One already has a pharmD and a JD before hitting 30. Another has 2 undergrad degrees, a masters from LSE, and a PhD. Others are doing their masters in prestigious schools like Harvard, Yale, UPenn etc. I am envious of their education.

My GF came to the event. I'll probably marry her and she's really cool about things (because we're both secure).

She was talking it up with her own gfs, my buddy and I took off to talk to others girls... where I met Lisa.

was this at a wine tasting event by any chance? I know a bunch of my friends in the city went to some 'wine tasting for charity' type of networking event last night

I gotta be honest. I do wish I was super outgoing (not shy at all though), experienced more things in life, & made better decisions.

And I certainly wished I didn't have this internet dwelling aspect of me where all we fucking do is bitch and argue over epeen that no one gives a flying fuck while they live more life.

No, but if I mentioned the host of the event, you'd probably know it seeing as minority communities are small in any cities.

One of the things I've learned in my short years... appearance/success is absolutely zero indicator of somebody's happyness. You might be happy as a pig in shit with their life, but to them they can be miserable for any number of reasons. That's how I try to avoid envy.

wait...you the guy with the Big 4 g/f? If so, tell her to audit her ass...

lol :) Again, the point of my OP isn't about wanting to bang her. That happens everyday to me whenever I'm outside.

I was really envious of her as an individual.

No you're not. You're a Korean immigrant. Not that there's a problem with it.

To top off your identity crisis, if you're naturalized, you're American.

omfg where was your smartphone? In your god danm pocket, that's where. You know what you were supposed to do with that smartphone? I shouldn't even answer that question, it's rhetorical. Fuck it, I will. You were supposed to take it out and take a picture of her smiling face while you got her number and a date. What the fuck man!

Fail. OP is so full of fail.

Sounds too good to be true.

Some girls are amazing the first time you meet them. Then they turn out to be high maintenance uber bitches you can't stand to be around.

SWEET! Now... what should I do with my new-found epeen?

Go troll others with same irrelevant posts and boost your epeen to level 70. After that, you finally obtain that title you've always dreamed of- King of Basement Nerds.

:)

If OP doesn't provide pics, I'm calling SHENS.

Yes, I made up a BS person that I can feel shitty about. lol. I'm tempted to post her pics, but I've seen too many things backfire with people recognizing others. Someone here already knows about the event too.

Sorry champs. Next time.

Because she probably is a better person than you. Who cares? There is someone better than you.

So because she has an MBA, speaks English, and enjoys fine dining, you think she's better than you?

There are people who become tenured professors in their 20s. People who launch multibillion dollar startups in their 20s. Nothing against her, but, if anything, you shouldn't doubt yourself just because you meet a well-educated individual.

Yea.. I guess huh? It felt weird because the people recognize as 'better than you' are people you see on TV or news. Or someone super-achieved like Bill Gates.

It was a sobering to see someone so relatively close to my background yet clearly better.

Yea.. I guess huh?

* I meant there is ALWAYS going to be better people than you, hotter, richer, smarter, more talented, and more beloved. Yes, one of them will have a huge real life penis and can cum buckets too.

There are always going to be people lesser than you too.

The fact that you at are your age having failed to realize this point and to comfortable being yourself is more telling of your character than you really know. Grow up.
