Last minute Oregon getaway...

K, heading down to Oregon (from Seattle) on Saturday late afternoon. Staying until Monday morning. Will likely head down to Ashland at one point or another. Bandon wold be uber-swell, but not sure if I cold find something available.

May have a place to crash for one of the nights, but want to find something very nifty and very comfy for Sunday night.

If ya got any ideas, hit me up, working on booking something totally last minute.

Definitely gonna be trying for it. If you've got a favorite bed & breakfast or motel/hotel up/down the Oregon Coast, lemme know. Gonna basically just be calling around in the next day or so trying to get lucky 🙂

Probably looking for somewhere between like eugene and grants-pass, from there out to the coast. Astoria, while purty, is probably a bit north. I do remember hearing about a great place to stay there... will definitely look into it for the future.

Looks like I'll stay in or near Ashland on Saturday, then take off from there around 3 or 4. Would prefer 3-4 hours drive max, for no other reason than that's the first thing I thought of. Bandon, Canyonville, Coos Bay... still a lookin'. I appreciate the thoughts.

Seconded.

The Astoria Red Lion Inn is an older building, not snazzy, not pricey. What it does have over every other hotel is atmosphere. Every room is overlooking the marina, with a slider and patio. I prefer the rooms on the west side. Open the window and listen to the shrouds in the masts as the sailboats rock on the tide. Watch the cargo ships ghost by in the evening, passing under the high span. It is way cool.
We went there as a first stop on our honeymoon, and have returned several times.

Cannon Beach was also quite cool. heck, I have not had a bad hotel stay on the Oregon coast. I can't say the same about camping though.....😉

Heck, if somebody can help me guarantee such a place, I'll throw in some paypal 😉

We stayed in Cannon Beach a couple years ago, very nice. If you go, be sure to visit the state park on the north end of town. The place we rented was half a block from the beach and reasonably priced:

McBee Cottages

When we go to the Coast, we go to a place where we have to hike in about a mile to get to camp.

Rarely see a soul the whole time we're there.

Who needs a jacuzzi when you can just go nekkid? :Q 😱

Must be a resident Oregonian thing. 😛

😀

If you have not stayed there, go ahead and try it. That site is full of links.
