Last Known Good Configuration in win2k question

Is it possble to restore the system from a given date in win2k other then 'LKGC'?
Similar to Win Me's system restore options?

Ahh...isee, what about the 'repair win2k' option that comes when you insert the cd. Does that reconfigure win2k back to originall configuration meaning you will lose all installed programs and drivers? or will it simply attempt to repair current configuration so to speak?

I'm pretty sure repair doesn't bring you back to your original install, it just attempts to figure out what went wrong and perhaps which system files have been replaced.

I take it you're having trouble with your windows 2000 install?

I had problems with win2k before and after troubleshooting and using the reparing option (which didnt help)i had to reinstall win2k. I know that the problem i had with my system was with unsuported soft and hardware at that time. Now evrything works smooth, i just want to be better prepared in the event the system runs into trouble next time.

I like the system restore in ME and i will get XP later.
I tryed the Xp beta and liked it, but i will wait before doing the upgrade beacuse i got software that dosent work 100% in Xp at this moment.

Thanks for the help sohcrates!!

What question did you want to ask it? 😀

Actually, I thought it was pretty hokey, too. But I've tested the living daylights out of the System Restore and Driver Rollback features. They actually work rather well!
