Last gen Maxima looks better than the new one imo

I just got a new Motortrend in the mail and they had a preview of it, I personally think the last model looks better. And I most certainly think the new Altima looks much better and cheaper to boot!

I paid $22,900 for my 2003 Maxima SE when it was brand new...which was less than a 3.5l Altima by a couple grand. Of course, it is completely paid for now.

I wouldn't trade it for either the current Maxima or the last generation.

There is already a topic on the Maxima 2009.

And the 2009 looks much better than the 2004-2008 abomination

2003 may be the best Maxima ever if Nissan continues down this road of design and CVT abomination.

The 2009 is much improved from the old model in design but is hampered by the weak CVT.

You got a good deal. I paid $25k for my 2003 SE titanium edition, black leather interior, etc at the end of 2003. Great car, but I liked the ride and feel of my old 96 max better. The 2003 sure is a pretty vehicle though.

I tend to agree, particularly when you consider the competition at the time. I do like the new one quite a lot though, and the '00-'03ish ones were cool too but strange the first few times I saw them. '04-'08 was fail.

I agree with the OP on both counts. When you add in that the Altima and Maxima now share platforms, there is even less reason to subject yourself to the Maxima. Which would you rather have, the pretty cheap version, or the ugly expensive version?

the last gen max looked like a space ship. the 03 SE's were my favorite and the new one is def better than the POS that was before

disagree, the 2004-2009 are probably the worst looking in my book

here's how I rank the styling throughout the years
1. 95-99
2. 89-94
3. 2000-2003

They should have just called the 2004 generation a different name.
