At the GM factory near Montreal. I'm a little pissed. We taxpayers have sunken hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies and loans to keep this factory afloat, and now they're closing it. GM will get to pocket the interest of a hundred million dollar loan made recently.

Well, I guess the fbody is dead! Mustang wins...

About friggin time! Let's start producing some higher quality cars in that place instead of closing it. Maybe Cadillac needs a new factory for its new stuff.

LOL, hahaha, there's a guy here at work that thinks the f-body is the end all of cars. I told him if he thinks it's the best car out there then why did they stop making it. Apparently there's someting wrong in Detroit. Thou I'd rather Mustangs stoppped being produced than the Trans Am.

Proof that in the auto market image is everything, and having a kick ass car that people can afford just doesn't work.

*flips off all the people who buy cars for the image*

You know who you people are! 99% of those Navigator owners!

RIP F-bodies, you'll always have a place in my heart next to the B-bodies as the last of the muscle.

Too bad, I liked the Firebird exterior styling (couldn't care much for Camaro), the inside is a different story though. I can just hear what Ford brass is thinking.... "2 down, many more to go" :p

You don't think that part of the reason people buy F-body cars is because of the image?

Crappy day... the Firebird I can live without, but the Camaro SS and Z28 will be missed.

I think they should stop making Mustangs and GM and Dodge should get more people to buy cars they will design to beat the Mustang :D

One can only dream :)

It is a Neon... and that's likely my next car.

it's a 2.4L turbo with 205 HP... runs about 5.9s to 60, just a tad faster than a Porsche Boxster. :)

but no, Dodge needs to make a V8 RWD car to compete with Mustang.... BRING BACK THE CHARGER!

Yeah, we all most of the people that bought F-bodies raced them.

i've been wanting a z28 for a while

Hell I waited for mine for just under a year, but then I had a legitimate reason for my wait....I was doing a frame up restoration of a 1973 Camaro Z28. I use it as my once a weekend long drive car.

Pontiac has the GTO coming out. Some say that the SSR will in some ways temporarily replace the Camaro. The unofficial word is the Camaro will be back. Not in F-Body form since the F-Body is dead dead. Since the closing of the St. Terese plant the next Camaro is speculated to be built in the underutilized Corvette plant in California. There is also strong speculation that the next Camaro will use the GM Sigma platform that the next Cadillac CTS will be built upon. The name Camaro is one of the top 5 most recognized names in Autos. With that name comes a legacy of an American muscle car. I can almost guarantee that the next Camaro will still be a pushrod RWD V8 with aggressive styling, or else it wouldn?t be a Camaro.

There is a guy in one of my classes that has a mullet. The only intersting thing about his is that he has all the hair in the back braided into tiny braids with little beads at the end of each one. :D

No mullets here. It must be a southern stereotype. I haven't met a Great Lakes F-Body driver who did have a mullet. Most people in the north that do, ride crotch rockets (Oops, Stereotyping again). Anyway... since we were diverted from topic by women SUV drivers and ricers I'll continue :) . Here is a link from GM Insider on the future of the Firebird. Some of it looks very similar to another verhicle name.

The Firebird name is not as dead as once thought. A scenario is developing that has the GTO as Pontiac's halo car till the Australian V-bodies demise in 2005. At that point Holden will go to the Sigma platform, which will make it much less lucrative to continue importing. This is do to GM's hope to have more Sigma plants on line by that time, cutting importation costs. Pontiac's next halo car is almost certain to be a Sigma car, and right now its name is very uncertain. If the GTO is poorly received as a slap in it predecessor's face, the chances of a new Firebird will greatly improve. At this point only time will tell what the Firebirds future holds:)

Let's hope it makes the comeback:Dodge Charger

And don't forget about the Hemi C :)

I'd love to see both get produced, I'm sure they'd both generate decent sales.
