Last day to drop a class...what to do

Hmm, decisions. 5PM today is the deadline for withdrawing from a class without getting a failing grade (shows up as a W on the transcript). I have this Secured Transactions class that I despise, I haven't read for that class since the first week and the final exam is this Tuesday. The professor is teaching his last term here and doesn't really teach; he goes off into tangents and occasionally references a statute or the casebook. He told us the first day of class that he doesn't care what we rate him on his instructor evaluations because he won't read them. Should I drop the course and lose $600, or cram in 72 hours and hope to pass? I know someone who took the class last year. She guessed on most of the questions (mult. choice) and got a B+.

I'd drop it. You might pass, it doesn't seem like you really learned anything, which is the point of going to college.

I don't think I'll get an E, but if I get a D then that will drag me below the middle 50% of my class. I'm not sure if that will affect my chances of landing a job in a couple years but then again I've got little work experience.

Study and take the exam. If you drop you lose money and you just have to take the class again. I have a Linear Algebra professor who drives me up the wall because he is constantly changing the grading scheme. Every day he changes the number of exams, quizzes, gives bonus points, takes them back the next period, modifies the grading schema, and so on. I have no idea what my grade will be for the class, but I am not going to drop it. I figure if I just study really hard then I should come out ok.

Still 5 1/2 hours left to go. hmmmmmmmm

The class is not required so I could skip taking it again. OTOH it'd be useful if I ended up doing any sort of commercial law. Arrgghhh maybe I'll consult a magic 8 ball :p

If you get a D or even a C, can you retake the class and get that grade replaced with something better? I knew many people that did that...
