I'm finally building a new machine to replace my BH6+300A combination. So, since I'm into the OC and bang-for-the-buck...I'm building a P4B266-C+1.6A machine, hopefully going to hit 2.4 easily.

Anyways, I just wanted to put my parts list up and just make sure that you all approve of my choices.
The one thing I do need help on, though, is the case selection. I'm trying to keep total case cost under $50. Please give me your input on case selection.

Asus P4B266-C - $100+$10.00 http://www.jncs.com/ 888-806-6988
Intel P4 1.6A GHZ Socket 478 + HS/Fan - $130+$15.00 http://www.l-buy.com/ 866-888-6669
RAM 512MB PC2100 DDR - $101+$10.79 http://www.edgemicro.com/pricewatch.asp 800-796-5188
Micro ATX Case 400W - $18+$17.95 http://www.acompinc.com/ 800-217-2667

2 Things:

1. I'd suggest getting EPoX 4BDA. Why? because it has a fully controllable 3:4 fsb/mem ratio so you can oc to DDR333 speeds at 533fsb or if you had RAM and a CPU that could run at this sped, you could oc to 600fsb+DDR400. While this setup won't be as fast as a 850e setup+PC1066 RDRAM, still it would be the best DDR setup you could have. One of the forums members (oldfart I believe) really likes the 4BDA and has oiced his NW to 600fsb+DDR400. So, if youre going DDR, this route is the way to go, but Id suggest going RDRAM.
2. What about a new Video Card and HD? You definately will want a 7200rpm HD, and a decent video card. I'd suggest getting a GF4 Ti 4200 once they hit the streets.
3. Why the mATX case? Besides P4B266-C (nor 4BDA) will fit in that case. Now on which case, I don't think you'll be able to get a decent one for $50, but I'd say $55-60+ shipping for Antec SX630 is decent.
4. Finally, I'd get all your stuff from Newegg. they have great prices, and service. Highly recommended.

edit: boy I ended over 2 things didn;t I?

I've already created another thread in the past and I think the general decision was to go with the asus and the northwood. The cost is least and not like I really need the power anyways...I've been runing 450mhz for the past 2 years or so anyways.

I think my main question is really just about the case. Please let me know exactly what kind of case I need to get, and possibly a place to find it for cheapers.

PS: I will checkout newegg.

I've calculated everything out and it would cost about $405 to do everything from different companies, or $435.18 to do it all through newegg...so I guess newegg it is.

My last question before I place the order...

This is the power supply I'm thinking of getting (it comes with the case)...will this be enough for the system? And will the case I've selected be compatible with what I'm putting into it?

If you get a Micro-ATX case, you will always need to have a micro-ATX sized motherboard.

Since microATX motherboards are smaller, they have fewer PCI slots.

And the transistors etc are all congested together, and it can make it difficult to plug in certain devices. For example, there are some video cards that will not fit in a microATX case because the fan/HD/heatsink/powersupply gets in the way.

Plus, microATX cases run hotter, since there is less air space and poorer air circulation.

The only thing positive about a microATX case is that it saves space, and is cheaper to make, since it has less stuff on it.

Buy a regular ATX case, and it will give you room to expand, room for more pci devices you might later want to get, room for air to flow, and room to plug in any videocard you might later want to buy. Plus you will have a wider selection of ATX motherboards when you upgrade to the next generation. There are usually much fewer micro-ATX motherboards, and as mentioned, they have less slots and less features because they are targeted for the budget system.

Yeah, as Athlon4all said, I've been pimping the EPOX 4BDA/1.6A/Samsung PC2700 DDR setup. This is a great combo. Many others have had just as good results as I have here and especially @ HardOCP forums. That setup is very popular there. I just ordered another combo just like it for a PC I'm putting together for a friend. The P4B266 is also a very good board, but doesn't quite match the EPOX in overclocking features. Mwave has the 4BDA for ~ $96. You are looking for 1.6A @ 2.4 GHz? Even @ 1:1 mem ratio, that is DDR300. I would be leary of no name ram. I've seen the Dane-Elec advertised, but haven't seen any reports on it one way or another. Whatever you decide, good luck with the build!
