Last comic standing cancelled

torpid

Looks like NBC is going to announce the winner during a father of the pride marathon. There's only one episode left this season, the one where they were supposed to announc the winner. Interesting theory by NBC.

FROM JAY...
Last Comic Standing is cancelled!!! This is shocking news to me too. I woke up on Wednesday morning and recieved the news. NBC was not happy with the rating of the show and decided to pull the plug. Keep in mind there is only one episode left and on that episode we were going to ANNOUNCE THE WINNER! Amazing. Why would a network cancel a show with only one episode left? There is some back history that makes this more ridiculous. As Last Comic Standing 2 was wrapping up this summer, the network told us that they wanted a "hybrid version" of Last Comic to put on the fall schedule. They said that they simply didn't have enough shows for the fall slate and needed a quick fix. My partner Peter Engel as well as other producers like Barry Katz, Cori Fry, K.P. Anderson and my self thought that this was a bad idea. We argued that having a seperate version of Last Comic so soon after season 2 concluded would burn the audience out and damage the franchise. Well the network insisted we move forward and we came up with "LCS Battle of thge Best". Season 1 versus season 2 for a prize of 250 thosand bucks. (It seems like Fox hands out a million dollar prizes on its reality shows like its lunch). Last Comic Standing The Battle Of The Best hit the airwaves in the fall and guess what? The ratings were down. The ratings stayed pretty consistent all season with around eight million viewers but that didn't stop NBC from hitting the panic button. The biggest question I have is why would you wait until the final episode to pull the plug. I feel terrible for the comics. We had a great final four with Alonzo Bodden, Rich Vos, Dave Mordal (my favorite) and John Heffron. These four comics are not involved with network bussines or standards and practices but it is they who will suffer the most from this terrible decision by The Nation Broadcasting Company. I have to stop typing now because I have to go TiVo Father Of The Pride.

PSA to Jay Mohr: YOU ARE NOT FUNNY. WATCHING MY GRANDMOTHER BREAK A HIP IS FUNNIER THAN YOU. PLEASE DIE IN THE NEAREST FIRE.

I think the guy who was runner up in the first season came out lambasting the show as stale because the comics had such pedestrian routines -- nobody pushing the stand-up comedy envelope.

This is why I probably average less than two hours of Network television a month. I prefer the internet, games or History Channel, Discover, etc. Network television is run by dumb f^cks with their heads up their asses who create the most inane drivel and I tired of it long, long ago.

If they do have a good concept they don't know what to do with it or they rehash it over and over with different shows but the same theme.

too bad. I really liked the show, despite some horrible comics (Tess, Jay London).

it's pretty stupid to cancel it with only one ep remaining, and replacing it with more episodes of Father of the Pride? wtf!? that show is a steaming pile of dogshit. it makes Joey look like Seinfield.

I think this season of Last Comic - the season 1 vs. season 2 - wasn't very good. It seemed a little forced, a little tired and like some of the comics were running out of material. Season 1 was an OK start and Season 2 was actually pretty good. This one just seemed like they were trying to drag it out to fill airtime.

You're just mad cuz his thong pouch was bigger..

😛

I actually thinks it's the height of comedy to can the show with one left...

Season 3 of pitting the 2 prev seasons against each other was a terrible idea. They need new blood for us to care and decide about.

And I don't like Jay Mohr... so good riddance to him.

And yet, NBC thinks that Father of the Pride is worth running a marathon?
It's really not that great of a show, Sigfried and Roy just crack me up every time.:Q That said, I agree with TwiceOver that LCS shouldn't have made it past season 1.

They shoud've give it a longer break from season 2 to season 3.

They need to start again and do a season 4 next year in the style of season 2.

I think an entire season of Roasts would be funny as hell!

I watch that show just for John Heffron. He always tells funny stories about when he was a kid. He's like the Generation X Bill Cosby.

The last episode with Triumph the insult comedy dog was freaking hillarious. At least his parts. My favorite line was when he was talking about Tess (a big fat black woman who plays her fat off as being a big "diva"). His line was something along the lines of:

And Tess, yes you are a big sexy black woman. About 265 pounds of sexy. No but seriously you are very sexy. There's nothing sexier than a woman at high risk for congenital heart disease.

It had me rolling.

i watched series one and two, but what i saw of three didn't look too promising. I think Mohr is funny when he's on Rome's show, but he tries to hard on LCS (and his failed fox show "action").
