Ok, Im not completly blind. I have an extreme Astigmatisim and (astigmatisim im sure about) extreme Myopia, it think or it might be hyperopia, but I believe it was Myopia. Anyhow, I cant see very well without glasses, I can make out shapes and, if I squint hard and go a little cross eyed, read larger text. I see color fine so no worries there.

I was told once by my optomitrist (sorry if the word is mutilated to much) that Lasik surgury may not be an option as my eyes my be to malformed to preform a surgery on it. I know a little about Lasik surgury and was wondering if I really was beyond help (As far as seeing goes...).

If not, Great, maybe I can get a full checkup and hopefully be a good canidate. But if I am beyond help, I guess thats life.

BTW Im 18 and 19 in July. I tried Contacts, but I was told that I must wear hard contacts and that the soft contacts would cost just as much as hard (about) because of the extream perscription. The hard contacts did not work very well (slid off my eye and created extreme glares, plus caused iritation). btw my old plasitic glasses where about a half inch think (not joking.) only resently with new plastic was I able to get glasses around a 1/4 inch thick.

Any tips?

your vision probably hasn't stabilized yet if you're only 18-19. if you have a really high amount of astigmatism, then you may not be a good candidate for lasik because it can only correct up to a certain amount depending on the laser. you can get a free lasik consult, but sounds like you may have to hold out for future options....

hard lens probably would provide the best optical quality if you do have a high amount of astigmatism and myopia, sounds like you need to be refit better (it does take a little while to adapt to rgps and get used to how they move/feel)
