Laser vs InkJet Printer

I'm in the Market for a new Printer and I was wondering whether it would be worth it to go to Laser since I rarely (if ever) print in color. It looks like a good laser will cost me an additional $100 upfront over a traditional inkjet, but I will make the switch if I can make it up in the cost of Inkjet vs Toner cartridges. How long does a typical toner cartridge last compared to an inkjet cartridge? What is the price difference?

PS. PPM isn?t that important to me.

price per page of laser is less in the end. laser prints crisp text on cr@p paper. inkjet requires expensive ink and expensive thick super white paper to even attempt crisp test. it doesnt' really get all that crisp though😛

isn't there a general hardware forum or something? I'm sure you'd get straighter answers there. Laser would be cheaper per page.

I bought a Lexmark Laser printer and it costs me about 3 cents per page, I think. My old inkjets were about 5 times that expensive. By the end of one year you will have paid for your laser with the money you have saved on ink jet carts, if you do any sort of printing at all. And you have to buy toner cartridges less often. I purchased my laser for $70 after rebate and sale price, so I ended up getting a great deal.
