My Brother HL-660 is finally on its way out, I think. First page out of every print job has toner on the back of the first page, fading gradually by the second page. I'm on my third toner cartridge, but have not replaced the drum. I've done my best to clean the printer with a damp cloth, a brush, and a vacuum (carefully).

Would this be the fault of the drum?

Regards,
Craig

I have the same basic machine, a Brother HL-665, with the same problem. I used to turn it on (via a power strip switch), print, then turn it off while the fan was still on. This problem occurred a lot until I left it plugged in 24/7. Now there's a barely perceptible smudge on the back of the first page, otherwise it's fine. Call Brother support and they'll walk you through a fairly complex cleaning routine. That should help some. Also, leave it on 24/7.
