laser printer toner refill kits?

spanky

Lifer
i'm gonna be needing to replace the toner in my laserjet 6p soon, and was just poking around ebay to get general pricing info. i stumbled upon some "toner refill kits", and was wondering what you guys thought about them. is it a good idea to get a refill kit, as opposed to a whole new toner?

OK, I'll bite !! My preference would be to stay away from third part refill kits. All toner is not created equal, some is more abrasive, not a problem for the machines that are designed for this toner, but a disaster for machines that aren't. Had personel expereince of bad toner, in this case a third party cartridge ruined a perfectly good printer. And I mean ruined, it never worked again after the toner change.

bad idea. it's very hard to refill some toners. i mean, if you have a drum, it's easy. if you have a fuser and drum unit like much of the cheaper printers out there, it's no good.

I also concur. Just buy new toner cartridges at brand name.

It's not worth the risk... it will cost you much more money if you break the laser printer... especially if you use 3rd party crap.
