well... i heard that laser printers draw a lot of power so pluggin it into a ups will essentially drain it and your computer that's hooked up to it won't have the power you wanted to have when the electricity goes out
If you plug a laser printer into a UPS, make sure it is in one of the outlets that are not on battery-backup, otherwise you will kill the UPS battery if you are printing and the power goes out.
Laser printers are not to be plugged into a UPS under 1.2 kVA. Their heaters (used to "fix" the toner) draw copious amounts of power. I've been to many offices where you can see lights flicker when the heaters are energised. They are turned on and off to maintain the temperature when the printer is idle but not in "sleep" mode.
Laser printers can have basic spike protection when plugged into low grade surge suppressor devices containing MOV's.
