Laser Printer Fan

I've got an NEC laser printer that I turn on when I need to print something.
It's got a fan inside that I guess cools the internals.
Is there any safe duration to leave the thing powered on to let the fan do its work, or can I just shut the thing down after use?

they probably designed it so you can leave it on all the time. seems dumb to have designed it any other way.
