Laser on full-size pistol?

I've been meaning to get a rail-mounted light for my FNX-9, and I was pretty set on the Streamlight TLR-3. Other options are the TLR-1 and TLR-2 but I think are a little too much light for me, same with Surefire, and I don't know much about that little S&W light.

I notice that there is now a TLR-4 which is basically a TLR-3 with a laser. I've never used a laser or thought they were that useful, but here it's only .4 ounces heavier and $45 more.

Anyone think it's worth it at all even just for fun? Is it pretty difficult to see these lasers outside during the daytime? Anyone else run a light and/or laser on their pistol?

I don't know why you'd have a laser on a gun you weren't carrying. I got a laser because I wanted to make sure I could still hit something if I didn't have time to bring the irons up to the eye.

Middle of the night break-in, eyes are a bit foggy, painting someone with a laser might be easier than trying to acquire a sight target.

My dad has one on his gun. Its a crimson trace i do believe. Its one thats built into the grip though. Sadly havent seen it outside of a gun range (indoor) or at home. But still seemed to do just fine in well let rooms. As for its usefulness i think basslover has it in that at night it would work well in a home defense situation. For shooting at the range....i usually turn it off if i shot my dads gun. His eye sight is going bad which was on reason he went ahead and got it though...not for the home defense aspect.
