Help: Please recommend a laser level for household use. (Potential Father's Day gift) Amazon has the "Strait-Line" doodad for $24.99, but it sounds like a toy.

theres that one on TV that "goes around corners" you shoudl get that one

just go to sears and get a Craftsman

I used to repair Spectra Physics ( now called Trimble) lasers. The "cheap" mock up lasers were $300 with the top of the line self leveling, machine control setups topping out at over $25K. The day after a windy day was always good buisness because everybodies tripod would blow over and smach the equipment.

Edit: A good one is the pls3 or pls5 but they are pretty much professional usage. All depends on what you plan on using it for since they range from $250-$500. Drop it once and your looking at a $100 + repair because the company just supplies shops with a whole new remanufactured internal laser setup. We actually drilled holes in the case of one so we could reach the calibration screws ourselves and save our customers some $$.

my dad picked up a laser level from Costco for 25 bucks. It's not too bad, it has the option for a dot or you can make it spread out wide on a wall.
