Las Vegas and Uber/Lyft

I was recently in Las Vegas and noticed all of these.

Why can't they pick you up in front of a hotel ? It doesn't matter either way I am just wondering. I never seen this before.

the same reason taxis can't pick you up on the street or infront of hotels - because it would be a clusterfuck. just like taxis, they only pick you up from designated spots.

We used a taxi one time for a short distance with 3 people and it was $30 something dollars same distance with Uber was $15.

Yes we did tip.

1. Similar reasons to airports. Uber can't just pick you up anywhere. It'd be a huge safety risk & cause traffic.

2. Politics and contractual obligations- Taxis have a proper queue, then Uber should too.

This is true.

Some places Uber can't even pick up at airports but only drop off.

Politics. LV had to protect the cab industry.

I think the system LV put in place is very fair for cabbies and ride share.
