how hard could it be to stick a whole bunch of 486s together?

Where's that Nemesis I guy who would post in every thread proclaiming how Intel and Larrabee would destroy Nvidia and AMD?

Funny freudian slip there, inspired me to draft the following "fixed" version for you:

Where's that Nemesis I guy who would post in every thread proclaiming how Itanium and Larrabee would destroy Intel?

This sounds an awful like how Merced got going. This looks like they learned nothing from that debacle. Let me guess, they will always be touting features and performance of the next iteration as well?

He was just given a short vacation. He's back and happily posting. He's been active in some video card threads where he says Larrabee will destroy nVdia somewhere.

It's too bad really, I was hoping for more competition and performance enabled by those leading-edge process nodes.

Seems to be "delayed indefinitely" rather than canceled. Now, delayed indefinitely is barely a step up from canceled but there is a distinction.

I agree with IDC that I'm disappointed this was canceled/delayed. There was nearly a zero chance of me buying a first generation Larrabee but it would be nice if someone was here to give a kick to the rear ends of both nVidia and ATI so they work harder and push the performance envelope.

I’m not surprised at all. They couldn’t even get the silicon working where they wanted it, but the drivers would arguably be even harder.

Right here! So whats new. Man it must be a blow to Intel Lol . Look at all the companies they bought/ Only to have A set back . OH lord what next. So does this MEAN?? That Larrabee will not be a standalone card. Or does it mean that You must have Nehalem or latter to run Larrabee software???. OH my time will tell all .

Kinda a disappointment . Intel decided to go into the HPC market. Oh dam . Now its ATI all alone with NV and Larrabbee battling it out in HPC space.

If intel is selling this thing as a development kit. They wont be competing in any meaningful way in the hpc market.

You seem to be in the know. Please tell me when intel said Larrabee would be released?

A link would be nice . 2009/2010 was the timeline. Were still in 09.

Actually dude, the "original" release timeframe was supposed to be in 2008. Says so right in the article.

"Larrabee, a chronically delayed chip, was originally expected to appear in 2008. It was slated to compete with discrete graphics chips from Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices' ATI graphics unit."

So what is it we need to know?

"Kinda a disappointment . Intel decided to go into the HPC market. Oh dam . Now its ATI all alone with NV and Larrabbee battling it out in HPC space."

Yes, disappointing. Would have been nice to see a third player. But it's no big change from the last decade or so. NV and ATI.

I'm disappointed too, I was interested to see what Larrabee was capable of. Even though I knew it would not catch up with NV and ATI in terms of graphics power, there would be some areas where Larrabee could shine.

Wow no show for Larrabee, Fermi chronically delayed and ATI 58xx cards nowhere to be found.

Sucks to be in the market for a new video card.
