Wow, that is a really big Number. No need to Download as just the first page is large enough. Interesting, I wonder if you can figure this out with an old chineese calculater?😕

So ... testing a billion-digit number would take more than 500 years .... wow - now that's a long work unit.

This prime is the eighth found at UCLA, although the first with GIMPS. Half the prize money will go to the UCLA math department, a quarter will go to charity (probably a math department with an open faculty position for number theory, Woltman says) and most of the remainder will go to those who found previous Mersenne primes using GIMPS.

The prize was $100,000.00 US

So $50,000.00 is going to the UCLA math dept., $25,000.00 is going to charity, and $25,000.00 is going to GIMPS to spread among previous prime finders using GIMPS.
