Large Print Keyboard

Hey there, both my parent's are getting up in years and I want to do something to help improve their eyesight on their computer. Does anyone have any recommendations on an inexpensive Large print (even larger keyed) keyboard and mouse?? I have seen some but they are 120+ bux and that's just ridiculous. I am also looking for advice or maybe a link to any kind of visual improvements you can make in XP. Im really looking to make this computer as Senior Friendly as possible and Im looking for ideas🙂

Thanks

If it fits your budget(and your computing environment) a 19 inch or larger CRT of not-too-awful quality would do a world of good(assuming you don't have one already). Since CRTs handle low resolutions a lot better than LCDs, you could run the system at a low res (800x600 or 1024x768) and everything would be absolutely huge, without looking awful. Bumping up the DPI settings in Windows would do the same thing, except that those aren't always hugely reliable, and some programs play nicer than others.

As for the keyboard, check http://www.hooleon.com/miva/me...mp;Category_Code=OV-LP out. You'll have to do some minutes of fiddly work; but you'll save 100 or so dollars.

Oh yeah I thought the same thing about the moniitor size. They have a 17 inch right now and I'll probably get them a 19 soon enough. I also saw the hooleon site with the stickers... good idea indeed. Thanks!

Why not just pick up a cheap label machine (I got a little p-touch for like 13 bucks), some laminated label tape, and make big letter stickers for each key? That'd be a LOT cheaper and if you wanted, you could even get a couple of different color tapes to differentiate between special keys (e.g. red lettering on ESC, ENTER, BACKSPACE, etc).

Hi DTXK-Checkout www.SSPDirect.com. They offer a great large print multimedia keyboard for $59 and it comes with a gel filled ergonomic mouse pad. There's also a large button trackball that would help your folks out.
